Can Shanghai Metro change larger carriages or add more carriages?

Each carriage has its own standard on gauge. Buildings and equipment will be set outside the gauge. The gauge standard of Type C carriages is lower than that of Type A carriages. If we replace Type C carriages with Type A carriages, the trains will inevitably invade the existing equipment and buildings. In addition, the length of platform should match the length of train. In this way, passengers will get on and get off the train conveniently. If we want to add more carriages, we have to increase the length of platform in all stations. It is difficult to make construction works in underground stations. The construction period is long, and it will affect the operation of all metro lines.
